Revelation 3:
14-22. A message not just for Laodicea
at the end of the first century but one for some of the churches of the 21st
century?
To be true to
himself God disciplines those he loves. He longs to be intimate with his
followers and spend time with us and so he says that often we simply ignore his
knocking on the churches door. Our attitude is all too often, “I am rich and well off and have all I need” – this
is a failure to realise that we are missing out on what Jesus has to offer and
we are in fact poor, naked and lacking in sight and personal insight fulness. In
other words we are lukewarm about what Jesus is offering. He advises that they
buy from him pure gold, white garments and eye ointment – he is the remedy to
their luke warmness. So therefore there will always be a cost to us: I suggest
we will enjoy the benefits if we are will to pay the price in time spent in the
presence of Jesus. It doesn’t bear thinking about what we are missing out on
because of our over busy lives.
Notes will usually be
available on the downloads section of the website
