6th November 2011

The text is Judges 7:1-22 , covering the story of Gideon. This is the back drop for the talk by Jane. This subject is reaching out by standing out and looks at dissent and practical living in the 21st century using the way Gideon had to stand out against idolatry in his own family, acts of defiance against the oppressors, and, though weak, how he was enabled by God .Jane looked and compared idols of Gideon’s time and ours and how, in following Jesus, that we and churches must speak the truth and call others to become followers of the Way.

Jane gave a short talk on “ walking by faith not by sight “ as part of an all age service from 2 Corinthians 5:7. It is part of a continuing small series in “reaching out through guidance.” This was the church weekend with Geraldine Latty coming to work with us around worship and included a practical illustration of trust using a “New Zealand snake” with lots of volunteers.
