Rev Pat Took, Team leader for the London Baptist Association, began this months series of talks based around being called to make disciples by looking at the incident in Luke 5 verses 1 to11 at the calling of Peter in his workplace. Pat gave three clues from the story as how best to meet the challenge of calling people to faith and commitment.

The last in this months talk on spiritual warfare Rebecca Suknenko looks at a series of biblical case studies of examples of prayer, trust, obedience. Then linking this to the authority invested in Jesus as a basis for our own response in challenging the powers present in today’s world.

This was the third talk on this months theme of “origins of evil”, the emphasis was around principalities and powers, the opening reading was Ephesians 6: 10-18(in plural) read by Becca, the talk was delivered by Rev Jane Thorington-Hassell.

Rev Jane Thorington-Hassell, Senior pastor, undertook the second of three talks on the origin of evil by focusing on the clash of kingdoms. Part of the 12 month series looking at walking in the footsteps of Jesus this month focuses on spiritual warfare. The talk highlights how Jesus came to bring in and demonstrate the Kingdom of God on earth and the clash of the values and powers between the Prince of this World and the Prince of Peace. The talk finalises with the thought that although this power battle spans not just time but eternity we resist by “ do not be overcome by evil. Overcome evil by good.
