Phil Wharbiton from E1 community Church, part of the Urban Expression Network, spoke from Luke 9:51 to 56 on the refusal of the Samaritan village to receive Jesus and moving onto the parable of the “ Good Samaritan “in 10:25 ff as a fresh look at a familiar story.

Geoff spoke to the story of Hosea in “ One step beyond.“ This is part of the “ reaching out” series. The talk looks at Hos 3;1-3 and how the disastrous relationship of Hosea and his wayward wife Gomer became a symbol of God's love that reaches beyond the waiting of the prodigal son to return to a painful searching out and finding told in the story of the prodigal wife.

Colossians 4:2-6 Reaching Out in prayer for an Open door of Opportunity. Today Jane considers Paul's request to the Colossians that they pray for him to have more opportunities to proclaim the mystery of Christ. He also encourages them to take the most of the opportunities they have when speaking with unbelievers ( His preaching has already meant he is under house arrest)

Jane continued in the “reaching out in prayer” series by looking at particularly the Father's attitude in the parable Jesus told of the “ prodigal son “ in Luke 5:11-32. Itself being the third of a series of three parables in response to the criticism levelled at Jesus in Luke 15:2
