Sermons for 10th & 17th February 2008

10th February: Reflections on Valentine's Day - Jane, our pastor, spoke on Matthew 19 vs 1-12.

17th February: Love and the struggle to obey" - Jane spoke on Hebrews 5 vs 1-10.

Sermon for 3rd February 2008

3rd February: Georgina Stride, our student pastor read from 1 Corinthians 13, and Rev Pat Took, regional pastor for the London Baptist Association, reflected on this passage as part of our 2008 theme "Love and the people of God".

2 Sermons and a Baptism

20th January: the sermon was entitled "We love because God first loved us" and Jane, our pastor, spoke on 1 John 4 v 19.

January 27th: This was a baptismal service. Jane spoke about baptism and then Nguasen gave her testimony and answered some questions before being baptised.

3 sermons to kick off with in 2008.

December 30th: Jane's talk entitled "Peace on Earth to men and women who please God", based on Luke 2 vs 8-20, and finishing off the 2007 theme: Space and Place.

January 6th: Jane introduced the 2008 theme of "Love and the people of God", based on 1 John 4 v 7 onwards.

January 13th: Jane continued with the theme "Love and the people of God", speaking from Ephesians 1 vs 1-14.

Two December sermons:

2nd December: Jane spoke about Worship in Space & Place - joining in with the hosts of heaven?

9th December: Jane spoke about Jesus and our place in history, based on Matthew 1: 1-17.

Probably no recording on the 16th as it will be a different kind of service with a Christmas drama for all the family. Everyone is welcome! There will also be Carols by Candlelight service on the 23rd. Check out the VPBC website for times and details of services over the Christmas and New Year period.

Morning sermon 25th November

Not much time to waffle on this week...

November 25th: In this morning's talk Jane took one of Jesus' parables Matthew 25 vs. 1-13 to talk about staying alight spiritually in a dark world. She talked about building up spiritual reserves of oil so we can keep the lights working till Jesus returns.
