From blindness to revelation. Reaching out to others is being a people of prayer while being realistic and thoughtful to the opposition and difficulties. Jesus says “ ! am drawing all people to myself.” the text is from John 12:22-32.

Jane spoke to Matthew 7:7-11 and verse 21 thinking about what it means to ask “ in Jesus name. “To reflect on our expectation of what God can do in exercising trust and praying together. It begins with God's grace but also requires our obedience and a recognition of our dependence in God in uniting prayer.

Jane spoke from Philippians 3:12-21 and linked it into the recent five days of prayer and the themes that emerged. This included the breastplate of righteousness celebrating diversity and obedience , the willingness of every every pot and pan in the God's kitchen to be used , the ocean made up of drops – that faithful service leads to greater responsibility, the parable of the net and fishing in partnership with local churches, the pearl of great price. This ended with the five “ Olympic rings” of reaching out and grasping God's purposes in Be Like Jesus, Be Holy,Be One,Be Clean,Be Still.

Jane introduces the theme for 2011 as “ reaching out “ both to God and others. The talk focuses on the forthcoming week of prayer while citing Psalm 28:2, I Timothy 2, Psalm 24, Psalm 134 as calls to prayer as we seek to reach out to God at the beginning of the year.

26th December Boxing day
Using a series of power point slides Jane spoke to a meditation of how Jesus was wrapped in his life as a body which is prepared by God - to become both approachable and knowable. Then how Christ is then unwrapped in glory at the resurrection, ascension and the second Advent.

Christmas day 25th December
Jane spoke to the last letter of our Advent acronym “SHARE” the light. “ E “ was “ Emmanuel for everyone everywhere.” Revisiting the short series in Isaiah 7 through December .

19th December carol service (pm)
Geoff spoke at the carol service in looking at incidents both night and day that build toward the Christmas story. A Saviour ? Yes – but as easy to misunderstand as it is to comprehend. The talk looks at how God is described as both light and love and how the coming of Jesus is both tangible and observable in its effects. How the reign will not just be better but radially different with mercy, justice and righteousness.
